Oh ladies and gentlemen, it's been a tough week. IB tests began on Tuesday, and between studying and sheer procrastination, it's taken me until today to be able to SHOOT MY LAST STRANGER
It's been a stressful week and finishing this project has made me ecstatic. However, the project isn't over yet. This particular project, my senior independent project, ends as soon as I print the book (hopefully sometime next week!) It's been real darlings.

I would like to thank my wonderful, wonderful boyfriend Jordan for lending me his InDesign skills to compose a wonderful front cover for my book. I think it's pretty snazzy personally, and it made my weekend.

ARGHHHH. IB exams start tomorrow, and I left Saturday Market this weekend, realising eventually that I was missing that key, last stranger - stranger 100. THE LAST ONE I NEED TO FINISH THIS PROJECT.
However, my zen is coming back, and have no fear, I will have completed the 100 tonight. But it's just so FRUSTRATING.
Oh well, here's some new lovely Portlanders to check out - and keep your eyes peeled, you may just know some of them... you never know who I'll stop and talk to.

He said it was a hard profession to get into, but he got lucky and after spending time in Iraq, it gave him the experience and opportunity to enter the work force. He's been working in that department for about one year now and really enjoys it so far.

Thai is a cook, and she was hanging out downtown, just leaving Saturday Market.

Well it's one of those strange times really - one of the things I have come to learn with this project is that approaching a stranger a) takes a lot of confidence, b) can be soul crushing when they say no, c) strangers say "no" a lot more when the weather is bad in Portland. Which these days seems to be every day! The rain also makes strangers a lot less talkative, which is a shame, I love collecting the anecdotes of my strangers.
However, less of the complaining - I'm up to stranger 81 and it's exciting times, over 4/5 of the way there and soon I won't know what to do with myself. Hopefully, I'll wrap the project up this weekend at Saturday Market, but lets just see what the weather's like first....

Thomas was playing the buckets outside of Pioneer Place. He somehow managed to match the beat to our conversation, timing it perfectly so every time either one of us spoke, he took a smooth pause to listen or answer. I was impressed with his skills.

Andrew was too absorbed in his music to stop and talk properly, but his guitar playing was beautiful so I didn't mind.

Officer Bill is a retired police officer who worked in the police force for 32 years, having worked in LA, San Jose and as a US Marshall. He is currently working as Portland Patrol downtown.

Kristina was meeting up with some old friends at Pioneer Square when I took her picture. She was happy to pose, however seemed slightly frazzled as she was making all the plans for the day.

Hey Guys! My life has been pretty crazy right now, with IB exams coming up and everything, but alas, I have not forgot about this project - I am up to 68 strangers, so expect a lot more posts the next few days - I want to be finished with the shooting of my project by Saturday - I know it's ambitious but... wish me luck! Phew! Today I took the whole afternoon to go and shoot, and my oh my the amount of people you run into when it's a sunny day in Portland - it was great! The weather may have been slightly bipolar, but for the majority of the time it was sunny and warm so I can't complain.
I had my fantastic wingman, Tassia, with me today to support me, and it's slightly freakish how we transformed from two shy teenage girls approaching people, to being able to bounce on up to groups and ask to get their portraits without a care in the world!
I'm officially over the halfway mark (63 strangers so far and counting!) so it's exciting times - it can only be downhill from here....
